Sandra's Story
Sandra Lopez has something to tell you: “Your support helps patients like me understand and cope with our disease and find the determination to conquer lupus one day at a time.”
Sandra was just 19 when, after hospitalizations, six months of trading doctors, and desperately looking for answers for her debilitating pain, persistent fever, and devastating hair loss, she was finally given a diagnosis. She was told she had a chronic disease with no cure, given a pamphlet, and wished luck as the doctor walked away. She had just been diagnosed with lupus.
You understand how being diagnosed with lupus can be isolating, how frightening the lack of information can be, and how important it is to have a community to support you. You see Northern California’s lupus patients. You care. And you give to LFNC. Thank you.
Sandra credits LFNC's programs with helping her understand and cope with her disease. In turn, Sandra began to give back to the community by advocating for her fellow patients, founding our Hangout support group, and teaching new patients the essential skills of living with lupus.
Sandra is a fighter. She never gives up. Today, she is set to graduate college and embark on a career in the medical field. But she couldn't do it without you. Neither could we.
