2020 Face of Lupus:
Julie Viscuso

Julie found the Lupus Foundation of Northern California in the midst of a flare; seeking community and support, as she didn't really have anyone to truly understand what she was going through. We are proud to help Julie and patients like her find support in their community. Julie, a stong patient advocate, is a practitioner in our Living Well With Lupus program and with her commitment to helping other lupus patients she has become a true Face of Lupus. Come hear what's new with Julie at the ball.

2021 Face of Lupus:

Hannah de Groot

Hannah found the Lupus Foundation of Northern California after being diagnosed with lupus; Hannah and her family attended LFNC’s New Patient Education class. She left the class feeling empowered and a lot less scared, equipped with the information and resources to not only understand how lupus was treated, but how to live with lupus and still have a full life. Meeting other patients through
LFNC and seeing that they could have lupus and still follow their dreams despite hardships made her feel as though she could, too.

2022 Faces of Lupus:

Gianna & Ray Mendez

Gianna and Ray are our first duo Faces of Lupus. This father/daughter team have difficult lupus stories; Ray's lupus journey started when he was a teenager and Gianna's when she was 9 years old! Gianna found our San Jose Support Group, The Hangout and invited her dad to join her. There they met other lupus warriors. Gianna said, "The San Jose Hangout Support Group has helped me grow confidence with knowing that I have Lupus, but Lupus does not have me and that I am in fact never alone."
