This program is FREE to lupus patients, family members, health professionals and other interested parties. Registered nurses can receive 4.5 CEU credits for Session One when attending the conference for a cost of $30. The Lupus Foundation of Northern California is approved by the California Board of Registered Nurses, Provider Number 05677.

- Benefits of healthy social support

Session 1: Keynote by Sarah Goozeé, PhD
Sarah S. Goozeé, Ph.D is a clinical psychologist and Director of Wellness at IPM Medical Group, where she manages programs to serve patients living with chronic pain. She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology at San Francisco’s Alliant International University (CSPP). She also worked in higher education for years as a Psychology Professor, and Dean of Academic Affairs.
Dr. Goozeé developed the “Lupus Activity Scale (LAS),” a self-report measure that empowers patients and quantifies lupus disease activity. She continues to work in the field of psychological research, clinical work and teaching higher education. Dr. Goozeé is a passionate lupus advocate and a former board member of the Lupus Foundation of Northern California (LFNC). She resides in the East Bay with her husband, Rob Mayeda, and their twin boys, Chris and Jonny. In her spare time she enjoys chasing her children in an effort to prevent them from hurting themselves.

Session 2: Keynote by R. Elaine Lambert, MD
Dr. Lambert is currently in private practice in San Mateo, CA. She graduated with honors from
Baylor University and medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas. She completed her rheumatology fellowship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and then a fellowship in clinical research from Stanford Healthcare in Palo Alto, CA. She began her career at the Stanford University School of Medicine from 1990-1996. During her time at Stanford, Dr. Lambert received numerous teaching awards along with the Alvin C. Rambar Award for Excellence in Patient Care, which is the highest award given to a clinician at the Stanford Medical School. In 1996, Dr. Lambert went into private practice while continuing her work at Stanford as a volunteer teaching faculty member from 1996 until May 2017. She also served as a team physician for Stanford Women’s basketball and Volleyball teams from 1992-2012. She has written numerous publications, abstracts, and peer-reviewed articles on various rheumatic conditions. Currently, Dr. Lambert is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology, Association of Women in Rheumatology (AWIR), California Rheumatology Alliance, and Chairman Emeritus of the Northern California Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. |
