This first session's topics will be presented by Dr. Gaurav Gulati of UC Davis. He will discuss "Finding Common Ground" patient and physician perspectives in lupus.” Followed by "Biologics: An add-on form of lupus treatment" which will be presented by Registered Nurse and Patient Engagement Liaison, Tatiana Spiegler.
We are excited to present another new speaker for Session Two: Registered Dietician, Tanya B. Freirich. Tanya will discuss "The Many Plates of Lupus - Diet and Lupus". This topic is sure to be a favorite of lupus patients!! We will also bring together our first Patient Panel of the year.
This program is FREE to lupus patients, family members, health professionals and other interested parties.

Session 1: Dr. Gaurav Gulati
Dr. Gaurav Gulati is an Associate Professor, Department of MedicineClinic Director, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Clinical Immunology at UC Davis. He is a board-certified rheumatologist offering care for adult patients with autoimmune rheumatologic conditions including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory myopathies, and others. He has special clinical interests in systemic lupus erythematosus, and erosive / inflammatory osteoarthritis. His healthcare system related interests include enhancement of patient experiences through high-quality healthcare delivery. Dr. Gulati's goal is to provide "patient-centric", evidence based, high-quality healthcare and thereby improve outcomes and enhance patient experience through a coordinated approach. Dr. Gulati believes in treating an "individual" and not merely a disease condition, and appreciating patients' goals of care and preferences through collective decision making.Dr. Gulati's research focuses on pathophysiology of systemic lupus erythematosus, with a special interest in the role of environmental factors in the onset and progression of the disease, and identifying early markers of disease activity and progression. He has authored and co-authored multiple PubMed cited manuscripts on this topic, and presented his work at multiple meetings including the American College of Rheumatology Annual Conference.
Session 1: Tatiana Spiegler, MSN, RN, PHN- Patient Engagement Liaison
Tatiana has been a Registered Nurse since 2012 and has diverse nursing practice experience; six years in critical care, volunteering with Safari Doctors in Kenya, and health promotion program development for the homeless people in the Coachella Valley. She holds three Master's Degrees in Public Health Nursing, Community-Based Nursing, and Nursing Education from California State University San Bernardino.
Tatiana's professional mission is to help people achieve their health goals by addressing disparities, developing resilience, and education. She believes the future of American health care is out in the communities where changes in lifestyle and behaviors through wellness programs have a significant impact on individuals' health.
Her experience with underserved and vulnerable communities has prepared her with essential skills like partnership development and transcultural sensitivity. Tatiana's approach to education is empathetic and non-judgmental, focused on identifying resources that best serve each person's health journey.

Tanya Freirich is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist based in North Carolina. Tanya owns and operates a virtual private practice that serves people living with Lupus and other autoimmune diseases, and can be found online as "The Lupus Dietitian".
With more than a decade of experience in nutrition counseling and a Master's degree in Nutrition, Tanya Freirich is passionate about educating and collaborating with her clients to find their personal path to health. She helps her clients make personalized sustainable dietary and lifestyle changes to reduce and eliminate flares, symptoms, and side effects.
